About Beeholden Farms
Beeholden Farms is something we build together.
We’re Steven & Misty, and we care for our bees with respect for natural rhythms. What began as a shared interest in nature grew into a deeper commitment to pollinators, small-batch honey, and doing things the right way, even when it takes longer.
Our bees are kept in the Bay Area, where forage, climate, and seasons vary year to year. Because of that, we let the bees lead. We don’t rush harvests, we don’t push production, and we don’t take more than the hive can spare. Healthy colonies come first … honey comes second.
How We Keep Bees
We practice hands-on, small-scale beekeeping. Every hive we manage is one we monitor personally. We pay attention to bloom cycles, colony strength, weather, and seasonal flow before making decisions.
That means:
- Not every season produces honey
- Not every hive is harvested every year
- And sometimes the best thing to do is simply leave the bees alone
When honey is harvested, it’s raw, minimally handled, and collected only when conditions are right for the colony.
Hive Hosting & Pollination
One of the most meaningful parts of what we do is working with others who want to support pollinators by hosting a hive.
We place and care for hives on residential and commercial properties where the environment is safe and suitable for bees. Hosts provide space and access; we take full responsibility for the bees, their care, and their management.
Hosting a hive offers:
- Natural pollination for nearby plants, gardens, and trees
- The experience of supporting local pollinators in a real, tangible way
- A share of the honey harvest when one is available
Why We Do This
Bees quietly support so much of what we love…gardens, orchards, wildflowers, food systems, and local ecosystems. We believe caring for them is a responsibility, not just a hobby.
Beeholden Farms isn’t about scaling fast or producing as much as possible. It’s about stewardship, consistency, and showing up for the work even when it’s slow.
More Than Honey
Alongside our hive work, we create small goods inspired by beekeeping, pollinators, and life close to the land. These pieces are meant to be useful, durable, and quietly meaningful …just like the work behind them.
