About Beeholden Farms
Hi, we're Steven & Misty.
Beeholden Farms started with two people and one hive. Steven had wanted to keep bees for years, and when the time finally came, he wanted Misty in on it. She was sure she wouldn't like it. Then she opened her first hive and fell completely in love, and the more she learned about how intelligent and fascinating bees are, the deeper that love grew.
We started small, with a single Mini Flow hive in Fremont. The bees outgrew it fast, and it taught us a lot: it was too small for a growing colony and more novelty than practical, so we've since moved on to full-size Langstroth hives that give the bees the room they need. We work the hives together, side by side. Misty's curiosity kept growing, and so did Beeholden Farms. Along the way she also developed a serious pollinator-plant habit. Steven calls it an addiction. The bees call it lunch.
Bees First, Honey Second
We keep bees on a small, hands-on scale, and we check every hive ourselves. We watch the bloom cycles, colony strength, weather, and seasonal flow before we make any decision.
That means:
🐝 Not every season produces honey
🐝 Not every hive is harvested every year
🐝 Sometimes the best thing we can do is leave the bees alone
When we do harvest, we only take what the colony can spare. Our honey is raw and lightly strained, and it tastes a little different every season. That's what local honey is supposed to do.
From Our Hives to Your Home
Nothing from the hive goes to waste. We turn the beeswax from our own Fremont hives into lip balms and cutting board conditioner. We also hand-pour small-batch soy candles under our Savannah Rae Candles line.

Hive Hosting & Pollination
One of the most meaningful parts of our work is placing hives with people who want to support pollinators. We care for hives on residential and commercial properties where it's safe and suitable for bees. Hosts provide the space, and we take full responsibility for the bees and their care.

Why We Do This
Bees quietly hold up so much of what we love: gardens, orchards, wildflowers, and the food on our tables. We see caring for them as a responsibility, not just a hobby.
Beeholden Farms isn't about growing fast or producing as much as possible. It's about stewardship, patience, and showing up for the bees, even when the work is slow.
