Honey Cinnamon Popcorn for Movie Night
Movie Night, Upgraded
Plain popcorn is fine. Honey cinnamon popcorn is the reason everyone stays on the couch for the second movie.
A quick honey butter glaze coats every piece with a thin, sweet, cinnamon-spiced layer and a little salt to balance it out. It tastes a lot like kettle corn with a warm, cozy twist.
Eat it right away for a soft, sticky treat, or bake it for 10 minutes to turn it crisp and crunchy like caramel corn.

Honey Cinnamon Popcorn
Honey butter glaze, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels (or about 12 cups popped popcorn)
- 2 tablespoons neutral oil, for popping
- 3 tablespoons butter or coconut oil
- 3 tablespoons raw honey (we use our Beeholden Farms raw honey)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon fine salt, plus more to taste
Equipment: a large pot with a lid or a stovetop popcorn popper, plus a baking sheet if you want it crunchy.
Instructions
- Pop the popcorn. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium-high heat with 3 kernels. When they pop, add the rest, cover, and shake the pot often. When popping slows to 2 to 3 seconds between pops, take it off the heat. Pour into your largest bowl and pick out any unpopped kernels.
- Make the glaze. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter with the honey. Let it bubble gently for 1 minute, stirring, so it thickens slightly. Stir in the cinnamon and salt.
- Coat. Drizzle the glaze over the popcorn a little at a time, tossing with a big spoon or spatula after each addition so it coats evenly.
- Serve or crisp. Eat it right away while it's warm and a little sticky. For crunchy popcorn, spread it on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 300°F for 10 minutes, stirring once. Let it cool for 5 minutes to crisp up.
Recipe notes: This recipe cooks the honey, so it isn't raw anymore, but the flavor still shines. Using microwave popcorn? Choose a plain or lightly salted bag.
Make It a Snack Mix
- Add crunch: toss in a cup of honey-roasted nuts or pretzels.
- Add chocolate: drizzle melted chocolate over the cooled, baked popcorn.
- Go fall: swap the cinnamon for pumpkin pie spice.

Storage and Safety Tips
- Store airtight at room temperature for up to 3 days. The baked version stays crunchier longer.
- Careful with hot glaze. Melted honey and butter can burn, so let it cool for a moment before tossing with your hands.
- Not for babies. Honey in any form should never be given to children under 12 months old. Popcorn is also a choking hazard for young children.
