Raw unfiltered honey from Fremont, California

What Is Raw Unfiltered Honey?

When we say our Beeholden Farms honey is raw and unfiltered, we mean we keep it as close to the way our bees made it as possible.

Our honey begins right here in Fremont, California, in the heart of the Bay Area, where our bees spend their days foraging through neighborhood gardens, flowering trees, herbs, wild blooms and whatever happens to be blooming during that particular season.

When we harvest, we gently remove the honey from the frames and strain it just enough to remove larger pieces of wax and hive debris. We don’t ultra-filter it, and we don’t heavily process it just to make every jar look exactly the same.

What goes into the jar is the honey our bees made.

And one of our favorite things about keeping bees is that no two harvests are exactly alike.

The color can change. The aroma can change. The flavor can change. Even honey harvested from the same hives can taste slightly different depending on what was blooming around Fremont when the bees were collecting nectar.

That’s what makes small-batch local honey so special to us.

Our bees choose the flowers. Nature creates the flavor. We simply put it in the jar.

Noticed tiny specks or a foamy layer in your jar? That's all part of it. Find out what they are in What Are Those Tiny Specks in My Raw Honey?, or taste it for yourself with a jar of our raw unfiltered honey. 🐝
