Why Should I Choose Raw Honey Over Regular Honey?
For us, the biggest difference between raw honey and commercially processed honey is simple:
We want our honey to taste like where it came from.
Our hives are here in Fremont, California, and the honey inside each jar is connected to what’s blooming around us here in the Bay Area.
Throughout the year our bees visit countless flowers, trees, gardens and plants. As the seasons change, their food sources change, our honey changes right along with them.
That’s why we don’t expect every Beeholden Farms harvest to have exactly the same color or flavor.
Actually, we don’t want it to.
Much of the honey you’ll find in a grocery store is processed to create consistency. Honey from multiple sources may be blended together, heated or very finely filtered so each bottle looks and tastes relatively similar. (Some of it isn't even pure honey. Here's how to tell if your honey is real.)
Our approach is different.
We harvest in small batches, lightly strain the honey and bottle it with minimal processing. That means naturally occurring pollen and other tiny components of the honey can remain.
But what we love most is knowing the story behind the jar.
We know where our hives are.
We know the bees that made it.
We know what time of year it was harvested.
And when a batch comes out a little lighter, darker, sweeter or more aromatic than the last one, we get just as excited about it as we hope you do.
When you buy Beeholden Farms honey, you’re getting a little taste of Fremont and the Bay Area in that particular season.
And we think that’s pretty special.
